One of the many things that I am proud of in Yukta is the strong need to be independent. And for a 4yo she is already fiercely independent. For example: She sleeps by herself in her own bed in her own room; she's actually been doing that since she turned 3! She is almost able to shower by herself and she can definitely put on her clothes by herself. So it is not surprising that some of the questions that she asks us start with, "How old do I have to be..." She has already asked us questions like: "How old do I have to be to drive a car?" "How old do I have to be to go to live by myself?" "How old do I have to be to do my own thing?" Our answer to most of these questions has been 18 and she has always taken it at face value without any follow up questions. Until this time. Yukta : " What are you drinking? " (pointing at my can of beer) Me : " Juice for big people " Yukta : " How old do I have to be to drink it? " ...
