Anyway, that's just the setting of context; I'm not going to bore you with an essay of pros & cons of using Zoom or Hangouts or Skype for classes. The conversation below is what this post is about.
Yukta: "Mommy, can you take a picture of me with this flower?" (holding a flower from our tiny terrace garden next to her cheek with an ultra cute smile and pose)
Me: "Sure!" (and I obediently take out my mobile and click the picture)
Yukta: "Great! Can you now send this to Josiah please?"
Me: "WHAT??"
[Josiah is her best friend at school]
At this point my husband, who has his nose buried deep in his mobile till now, is suddenly sitting up in rapt attention.
I exchange quick glances with my husband, take a couple of seconds to digest this request, compose myself and say:
Me: "I would, Yukta. But Josiah doesn't have a phone, right? He's still a kid like you and kids don't have phones."
Yukta: "Hmmm, yeah... Send it to Josiah's mommy then!"
I'm somewhat impressed by how quickly she arrived at a solution.
Different story that I did not have Josiah's mother's number, which I explained to her and she understood.
But thereafter, every time he hears the name "Josiah" my husband's brows clench the way they do when you step on an invisible-to-the-eye Lego block. I hope he knows that the game has only just begun.
